After a great qualifying

a suffered race for the Forward Racing Team

Motegi, Japan: After the cancellation of the Grand Prix of Japan earlier this year caused by the volcanic cloud from Iceland, the MotoGP circuit has finally arrived in Japan.

A very positive start on the Twin Ring Motegi for Claudio Corti, who handled to finish tenth on this unknown and very difficult track after the first free practice, losing just one second from the today’s pole setter Julian Simon.

Instead, his teammate, Jules Cluzel, had to face the first day with some difficulties. His feeling with the bike was not the best at the beginning of the session and the modifications implemented during the turn could not completely solve the problem.

Excellent performance for Claudio Corti on Saturday during the qualifying of the fourteenth race of the 2010 MotoGP World Championship. The young Italian rider from the Forward Racing Team qualified in fifth position on this tricky Japanese track, continuing in this way his positive trend of the last races, even on a circuit which he never saw before. It was a positive day for Jules Cluzel as well after having solved most of the problems encountered during the practice, and finally he handled to qualify thirteenth. The fourth row, however, does not evidence his real value, as the French rider was not able to take advantage of the last new tyre because of the traffic he met during the final laps at the end of the qualifying session.

On Sunday, after a good start from the fifth position Claudio Corti finished the first of three oversea races in 14th place, explaining that this disappointing performance was caused by a lack of rear grip. The same problem slowed down his teammate, Jules Cluzel, who, after an excellent start, crossed the finish line in fifth position at the end of the first lap. Later the French rider stabilized himself in seventh position, when a unfair and very dangerous maneuver of Yonny Hernandez forced him to leave the track, relegating him out of the points.

Claudio Corti

14th position
„I'm really disappointed, I expected to do a better race, fighting together with the fastest, but unfortunately today there was no rear grip and I was unable to accelerate as in previous days. In the first two sections of the track I lost a lot of time, as the acceleration was fundamental there, in the final part instead I could recover some tenths, but it was not enough to overtake the riders in front of me. Now my only desire is to improve this final position during the next race in Malaysia.“

Jules Cluzel

16th position
„I’m absolutely surprised how unfair some other riders face the races. Yonny Hernandez pushed me twice out of the track and both of us really risked to get hurt. I regret this even more because I started, once again, extremely good. For sure I was not in a position to fight for the podium, but I could absolutely reach a top ten result.“
