Valencia, Spain:
On the prestigious circuit Ricardo Tormo after two races marked by bad weather, the MotoGP circus has finally been welcomed by the Spanish sun.
Seven months after the first race of the Moto2 and the beginning of the 2010 World Championship, the season finished this weekend with the last race in Valencia. The Forward Racing Team strikes a positive balance of the first year in the young history of the team, ending up in seventh position with Jules Cluzel. His teammate, Claudio Corti, instead concludes his debut season in the World Championship as 25th.
Jules, who terminated this year with a win, two podiums and seven top ten positions, run the best season of his young career. The French rider from Montlucon, who scored the first win ever for the Forward Racing Team, had a slightly alternating season, but the determination and motivation were never lacking. Here in Valencia Jules finished the race in eleventh position after a close and contested race even if not for the high score positions.
Claudio Corti, who had faced this season without knowing most of the circuits of the MotoGP World Championship, was able to show a gradual improvement taking home a pole position and ending up 7 times in the top fifteen. During the season the young and extrovert rider from Como has proved constantly to be immediately competitive during the practice, quickly learning the new tracks and eliminating all doubts about his talent, which allowed him several times to leave behind even big-name adversaries. Claudio finished the season with a comeback race from 26th place in the starting grid up to 19th position at the end of the race.
DARK DOG congratulates its riders and is proud having been sponsored the Forward Racing Team during this season and wishes both riders all the best and even for 2011!
19th position
„It was fantastic to participate in this new category Moto2. I‘m really glad to have made this experience, even though it had often been a very difficult season for me. More than any other thing I want to thank my team for all the things they taught me during this season, probably I learned much more than I did in the last 3 or 4 years. However I would not just like to thank my engineers, but even all the other team members who worked for me and with me during the last months. This championship was a tough test for me, because here all adversaries are very fast, not like in the Superstock Championship where we were just a few fast riders.“
11th position
„I‘m happy about this season, it was my best one since I ride in the World Championship. I have had excellent results, although I would have preferred to be more consistent. I keep the unforgettable emotion of my first victory in Silverstone and the resentment of some races under my expectations. We worked on this point, creating the fundament which will allow us to built up a 2011 as real protagonists. Now I’m looking forward to get back on track and to start working for next season.“
Team Manager
„17 races have passed by quickly leaving some fantastic memories starting from the first race in Qatar through the spectacular performance in Silverstone and the many other races where our riders were able to demonstrate a talent and a motivation that left us excited. A positive result for the first year in the history of Forward Racing; the team demonstrated to work on a highly professional level and to be a fantastic family, a good base for a season 2011 as protagonists.“
